Her husband was kind enough to think of the stitchers who followed her blog to notify us via the blog.

Bermuda Reef

Bermuda Reef is a canvas class I am taking from Kathy Rees.  As usual, I love the piece (as I do most of Kathy's pieces, especially the classes).

Here is my progress so far:

As usual (and not intentionally)
I just kept on going after the first lesson
the top medium triangle was the first lesson.

I really like how it is coming along.
Usually I don't pay much attention to my backs
but I thought that this looked pretty good.

Sorry for all the shadows showing up.

In the non-stitching area of life
My trip to Washington DC was great.
though I nearly froze to death.
I had accidently packed a pair of warm tight instead of stockings
I was so glad.  Though I didn't take any really casual shoes
I took a pair of winter socks which I ended up wearing to bed.
I was really tired by the end of the week and glad to be back home again.

I still need a vacation
the kind without any work.

SAL TIme

Well, having finished DO Different, I have been thinking about two other patterns and simply can't decide.  So please chime in with your comments.

First Photo up is my Laurel Burch Painter Canvas - CATS

I do have parts of the cats done.  The one to the far left has not been started.
The others have all been started but no one cat has been finished.

The Second Choice is Pandemic by Long Dog Samplers

As you can see, this one needs a long of work as well as the Cats.

What would you like to see more of?

Meanwhile check out the other stitchers.

SAL time

It's SAL time and the news is disappointing.

We recently lost a member unexpectedly.  Prayers for Carmela's family and thanks to her brother for letting the admin know what happened.

Secondly, I have been swamped with deadlines of other things, all non-stitching, that my progress is barely there.  My short bursts of stitching during this period have not taken me very far.

last time:

as of late last night:

overall

right bottom is nearly done
the rest will be in the darker red to match the other 4 corners

I didn't feel like changing threads
so I started previously blank area.

Progress is being made, just more slowly at time than others.

Check our the rest of our group

SAL TIME

Hard to believe how fast the past three weeks have gone.  I can't say I got a lot of stitching in.  It seemed like I was always frogging.  There was an area I did three times before I got it right,  But I have plugged away at Do DIfferent.

My camera wasn't as nice to me though.  I emailed myself the photo for the day at 10 am and it just arrived at nearly 8 pm.  My phone/camera has been doing that a lot lately.

This is last time

Today's update

As you can tell, I worked on the big floral area
in the four corners but I didn't
get the 4th corner completed.

Don't forget the look at the other stitchers' beautiful stitching.

This is where I concentrated my efforts

the right side

and the horizontal strip above the words

The last three weeks have been cold outside and snowy
so I stayed home more and stitched more.
Not sure which section is next.

Happy Stitching!

Wednesday, February 16, 2022

Feb 13, 2022 was the start of the #100dayproject for 2022.  I'm a bit behind in posting.

Here's an overall of my project.

It's a Laurel Burch canvas

Day 1 close-up  (Feb 13

Day 2 - Feb 14

Day 3 - Feb 15

Day 4 - Feb 16
close up

This morning I decided the first stitch is not working.
I like the second stitch better.
Feel free to comment.
the rest of the face will be a lot of bargello
Need to go look for the fancy triangles at the LNS

stay tuned for more.
Thanks heavens it doesn't have to be my only project
nor is there a timeframe of minutes/hours per day

Keep stitching!

Wednesday, February 2, 2022

I was asked about my colors in Do Different.  One is obvious -Black.  The other two are a varigated/overdyed red by DMC and a solid red - DMC 814.

I started out want a lot of red and a little black.  Somewhere in the last few weeks I realized it would look too unbalanced and the black might get lost so I opted to do the middle of the two sides all in black.  AS for the rest - I looked at the motifs in an area and decided if would look ok in shades of red or not.  I realized that it only worked for the larger areas.  The smaller areas / blocks looked better in a solid red where you could see what it was instead of an area of muddled threads.  I also played with the varigated thread to pull out some really dark parts and some really bright, lighter areas.

I hope that answered the questions.  If not, leave a comment please.

Stay warm!

Sunday, January 30, 2022

It's time for a SAL update.  Make sure you also check out the other stitchers as well.

AvisClaireGunConstanzeChristinaKathyMargaretCindyHeidiJackieSunnyMeganDeborahReneeCarmelaSharonDaisyAJCathieLindaHelen

MY piece is called Do Different by Long Dog Samplers.  Here is last SAL's update

and this is today:

A bit wrinkled and some progress

left side

right side

Sorry about all the wrinkles.
See on the right side in the new area there is a large flower/clover.
I stitched most of this and then had to rip it out.
I did the same thing on the other side.  I guess I didn't learn how to count
the first time.

part way thru the tipping out process
Yes, I cleaned the area before re-stitching.

This is the corrected motif.

I hate to frog my stitching!

Keep warm everyone.  We are preparing for lots of snow
this week and some sub-degree temps as well.
Hopefully some extra stitching time.

Tuesday, January 25, 2022

I found my notes.  Over the week-end I ended up stitching 16.5 hours.  Not too bad I guess but still short of the 24 hours.  I can try again next time the group has a stitch-a-thon.

Monday, January 24, 2022

Well it was supposed to be a week-end of stitching - 24 hrs worth.  It was also the week-end to hermit and stitch.

I did manage the hermit part - minor cooking overall  and taking out the trash Sunday was the only things I did other than stitching and genealogy.

On Friday I did both.  Saturday I ended up doing 12 hours of genealogy - well into my stitching time.  But I was on a roll. One fact lead to another and so forth and it just kept going.  Until I was so bleary eyed that I could see straight which also means I could see to stitch.  Sunday I made up for the stitching but still managed only 8-9 hours on Sunday  (not sure where my notes are).  Once I find my notes I'll know exactly how long I stitched over the three days - it defintely was not 24 hours.  However I did Hermit for the whole long week-end.

this is what I had done after Friday night.
ON the left side, above the top triangle in black - that area was empty when I started Friday.
however, the far left side was done twice on friday as well.

This is what I stitched and then could not line up.
The "clover" area all came out.  It needed
to be moved on stitch down and one stitch to the right
and no was to fudge it.

And then it was gone
but it needed a good cleaning.

All cleaned up
and stitched in the correct spot.

After the week-end
before ironing

right side

left side
