Books

Over on the side, I keep a list of books that I have read so far this year.  A mixture of historical fiction and mysteries so far this year.

For quite awhile I have had the same book listed under "current reading".  I am still reading it but very slowly.  It is on my Kindle which I don't tend to read a lot when I am at home.  Meanwhile I keep adding books.  I hit a slow time in late March and early April but now I seem to be back to a more normal reading timeframe.

It seems like many things in life have slowed down and gotten lost in the shuffle since March.  BUt I am working on getting things back to "normal".

This week we watched/babysat out grandson for two days while our daughter found new daycare.  He may only be 8 months old but he rarely takes naps and never wants you out of sight.  A bit tiring since we haven't done this in quite awhile but rewarding.

Update on Sea Opal - ANG class

As you can see, this is how my Sea Opal is coming along.  I seem to be stitching more on it than any other projects.  It really is quite enjoyable and mostly relaxing.  I admit I need to spend some time on my other projects as well.

Not much to say today.  It is storming outside - which makes for a good stitching day as long as the power stays on.

I have made some progress (and some changes) on Sea Opal (by Ro Pace).  I am still also working on my January challenge list and a few things are closer to being done.

This week-end was the baptis of our newest grandchild.  It went smoothly and we got lots of great photos of the family.  More on that later.

Hopefully I can do photos in a day or so.

catching up

Yes, this really was taken at the end of March 2011 but it just sat in my camera while life kept pushing forward.

Meanwhile, I have enjoyed a nice retreat with Hoosier Stitchers, my on-line stitching sisters.  It was great to put faces to the names.

I've also been to the March meeting for ANG, DAR and EGA.  I have stitched (an important thing).  I have done some genealogy, more by accident than intent.  And I scheduled myself to volunteer for a local genealogy day sponsored by the Indiana Genealogical Society.

As for the April question (posed by Lee).   I have various records for my needlework.  I used to keep a notebook with the name of the piece and the timeframe it was finished.  I have no idea where the notebook is.  The published pieces each have a master copy, as well as the leaflets for sale, and each have their copyright date, etc.  They are their own record.  Teaching pieces also have a master copy with copyright date, etc but also I have numerous brochures with the various teaching pieces listed.  I also have a file of contracts.  My husband also has copies of most of the brochures in the family history files.  So, some things are double or triple saved/recorded.

Busy, Busy

Lately Life has been really busy.  Last week hubby and I got away for a couple of days and ended up doign some genealogy - which was not the intent of the trip.  We discovered in the town next to the state park where we were staying, had listed as of one of the local attractions - the Shrewsbury house, built by a riverboat cpt.  We knew we had Shrewsbury family members so hubby pulls out his PDA and checks the database and sure enough - there was Charles Shrewsbury.  You just never know when or where you will find a relative!

I also got to spend the night with our youngest daughter, the one with the newest baby.  Her husband had to go out of town for a night and so I stayed to help.  I admit, I'm not used to getting up in the middle of the night with a baby anymore.  But I did it and she got some extra sleep.  He just had his one month check-up and is now a whooping 8 lbs and 10 oz.  He's a cute little guy!

This coming week-end I'm going on another stitching retreat while hubby holds down the fort at home.  I'm looking forward to relaxing and ignoring the outside world.
