Hard to believe it is time for a new SAL post.  I have been busy - some stitching, some crocheting and lots of genealogy.

First up is my completed piece - Cupid's Logs

I think I might make it into a pillow
(really have someone to do it for me)
Still staring at it to make sure

I have started another project that I inherited.
The Fourth Wiseman

THis is where she left off
plenty more to do

The bottom border needs to be completed.  All those light spots in the
border need to be filled in - with a darker thread.
part of his face and beard are blank
missing the big star
and missing the background

Here it is as it stands now:

I can't believe that I have let so much time go by.  I have been doing so much genealogy and been so involved in other things (not stitching) lately.  Yet i have managed some stitching.

Le me start back into April some time which really began several months ago.  A stitching friend died last November. No one remembered to tell me.  It was just assumed I knew.  After spending all of covid plus sometime after with a very sick husband, I had drifted away from many things/groups.  The surprise came in January in the form of a letter from a lawyer.  I had been mentioned in a will. The stitching friend from years ago left myself and five others, her stitching supplies.  She had a wonderful stash that we all envied.  I signed the form and set it off and then in early April 3 boxes landed on my front steps.  Not little boxes either.  All sitting in the rain (and I got them in quickly).  3 boxes of mixed stitching goodies.  At the end of April, those of still in town got together to do a swap.  I had thread bags that went with the chart/canvas from someone else, etc.  We all went home still a bit overwhelmed but now different stashes and all were happy.  So you will see some new things eventually show up as I work on them and my own stuff, etc.  It does make me realize that I need to get bust and stitch the things I love.

Meanwhile a new genealogy opportunity opened up but required some classes  Classes are now done and the work begins tomorrow.  I hope things will be a bit more balanced from here out.

Meanwhile my eyes have begun to bother me again.  Time for another appt and who knows what.

So mean while this has languished without a lot of work being done.

However this one has done well

before

and now

This is Cupid's Logs.
A Kathy Rees Design
and one from my friend's stash.
All kitted up, canvas and threads
I just added my needle and a magnet.

Almost there.
I plan on having it done next week.
Then I get to pick a newish piece.
Just not sure which one
3 are nudging me and saying
"stitch me"

SAL time again

Hard to believe that it is time for a SAL post again.  This time I have 2 pieces to show.

last time:

Today

with a close up

I have been working on more of the greenery then switched to
the background of the flowers in the greenery.
Also, all the white in the house is done.

I love stitching this but the 36 count is bothering my eyes somewhat
so I decided to add something else into the mix.
18 ct canvas is a lot easier on the eyes.
Here's the cover sheet and
stitching so far

I started with the center log.

Yes, I know I am late.   I was still stitching on Sunday then I went straight to bed (since it was after midnight).  Monday morning I took the photo and then was gone the rest of the day.

Here is the last photo:

It's hard to believe it's been a full quarter of a year since I last posted. I admit it was busy, full of woe and ill health. Most of which I will not bother to report. The woe portion is the death of two friends. Melinda and I belonged to the same stitch group for a long number of years. She left us in November. The other was the more recent death of Carol Lake, a well-known needlework teacher whom I became friends with over the years of teaching. In October I did get sick and went to the doctor which started a longish journey of blood works and other tests to include an ultrasound. In the long run, I got my gall bladder out in early January. By the time I got to see the surgeon in late December, he was surprised it had not burst and then got me scheduled as soon as possible. Ironically the only cancellation that happened was the patient scheduled immediately before me on the day of the surgery. Recovery is going well. And the weather is cold (-3 today) so I stay in which helps the recovery as well. I now have a way to work around the awful glasses that I have and whatever the problem is with my eyes. I now wear a pair of "peepers", hold the fabric up close and have my Ott light right there almost on top of things, then I can stitch, slowly. Meanwhile I can't see anything else literally. I have to raise up the glasses to see to change a tv channel, to see someone else (like one of the cats). But I am stitching some now. I am also crocheting which I can do with out the peepers and with the awkward glasses. Last year I stitched 3 prayer shawls, each being about 30 in wide by 65 inches long, as well as 5 preemie blankets and 1 scarf for the homeless. I decided to start the new year with a new project and go back later in the year for The Potter's Shed and a few smaller things I had started and not finished. Here is A Plant of Rapid Growth: This is the cover photo. I changed the fabric I have used DMC for some of the overdyes progress shots As of this morning 1-14-2024 The start of the 1st prayer shawl for 2024 And that's the scoop for today. Today is also SAL day for me. Please check out these other stitchers: Avis, Claire, Gun, Christina, Kathy, Margaret, Heidi, Jackie, Sunny, Megan, Deborah, Sharon, Daisy, Cathie, Linda, Helen, MaryMargaret Stay warm!
Ok Major problem, screw-up, something. I wrote a good blog today (or so I thought) and tehn posted it to the wrong blog. I accidently posted it to the CHrismas Ornie blog. THe Christmas Ornie blog is somewhere on the right side. YOu have to open it list up and then find it. Meanwhile I will be trying to get a copy on to this page. If you have suggestions on how to get it over, please let me know.
