I just learned today that a favorite teacher and friend, died two days ago.  Joyce Lukomski  was a wonderful teacher, artist, needlepoint, editor and friend.  The needlepoint world has lost a great asset.

Joyce’s complete obituary is online at https://legcy.co/30ftY73.

Rest in Peace Joyce.

Blues in the Night
by Jim Wurth
My corners don't match his - I lost the directions
in the winter/spring flood and I did not have a corner done.
The rest if the sections, I had at least 1 of 4 done and could copy myself.
I did change some of the colors but it is still all in Blues and the original white and silver.
Now to figure out how to finish it off.

Update on Wooly Winter

Sorry to have missed my SAL update on the 21st.
Not sure what the heck what was happening here but
I managed to skip it over.
Next one up is on the 11th of August.

From the  chilly hollow blog    https://chillyhollownp.blogspot.com/

There's a new book out from Tracy Chevalier, whom you probably know as the author of The Girl with the Pearl Earring.  And guess what?  It's about NEEDLEPOINT!

Great article for those of who stitch and read.

another finish

Yes, another finish.

I made a couple of changes.
I had decreased the width of the stand due to the fabric
which changed the where the post went so it is off center
I used French knots in the bough of holly inside the stand
I used a shade darker of green in the robe.
for the two spool ins the bag -
I stitched in the center then did satin stitch over it.

Now to keep the momentum going.

Yesterday was the Longest Day SAL merged with IHSW (International Hermit Stitch Weekend).Longest Day SAL merged with IHSW (International Hermit Stitch Weekend).  I managed a whole 3 hours.  Not so great but I did get a fair amount of the blue face done.  You see a dark swirl - I did that in a darker blue purple shade just to mark it off.  After all the tent stitches are done, I will do the swirl and it will cover any missing or "base" stitches.

my blank large blue face (on top)
need this to place the whiskers later

And now you can see the facial stitching.
The white outline had been done a few days ago.
So had the gold on the middle cat.
I'm doing tent stitches for the faces because my kitties have very short hair on their faces.

And to remind us, despite the rain
it really is summer

Not a lot of change but the word is complete

JULY is done except attaching a couple of stars
I swapped out the word JULY for another fireworks over 1

Stars and Stripes overall

A close up of the side

And now for an opinion.
I stitched a star in a corner
but do I stitch the rest of the corner in the light blue
or even white?
something else?

Not sure what the corners in the corner will be yet
Eliminated the idea of a rhodes - it looked terrible
Squares like in the star didn't work either

Have a great week!
