I know it's been a week since I posted  but it has been so busy and tiring.  With everything going on, not sleeping enough,  plus my fall allergies, I think I'm about to hit a wall.  I even went two evenings without stitching.  So sorry for the lack of photos or anything else.  I'll try to catch up in a few days.

Happy Birthday NSDAR

Happy Birthday to NSDAR!  More commonly known as DAR.

Stands for National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

This is our 125th Birthday.   A long time to be around and we are still thriving, more meaningful than ever.  Today is also our annual day of service.  We do service projects thru the year but this is the day that all members, across the globe,  try to do something on the same day, especially this 125th birthday.

Yes, I am a proud member.  I belong to the chapter named for the very first President General - Caroline Scott Harrison, wife of President Benjamin Harrison.   My chapter does a lot for veterans and active military.  We have several veterans in our chapter membership as well as a member who is active duty and about to be deployed next month.  We do so much more as well.

Do you have a patriot in your family history?

I have mentioned before that I am into genealogy and I may have mentioned that my husband and I have published some family histories.  Here's another important contribution to the world of genealogy - electronic data.

Celebrate Electronic Records Day – 10.10.15

ER2015

What is Electronic Records Day?
E-records Day is a day to raise awareness among government agencies, related professional organizations, the general public and other stakeholders about the crucial role electronic records play in our world.
Why does it matter?
With the increasing reliance on information technology, the challenge to manage, preserve, and provide access to digital records and information continues to grow. Managing electronic records is an urgent issue!
Electronic records are subject to changes in software and hardware that can leave them virtually inaccessible after just a few years, if not monitored.
Electronic records require proactive management. The best time to plan for electronic records preservation is at the time records are created, rather than when software is being replaced or a project is ending.
Electronic records should be evaluated according to their information content, not their format, and be subject to the same retention schedules and public records requirements as physical records.
Paper records stored in good conditions can be read centuries afterwards; electronic records, however, can become unreadable very quickly, without proper management and care.

Change of ownership

I saw this today but evidently posted yesterday.   I wonder how this will change things for the designers that teach only and order less frequently.   John (the previous owner) often override his staff's decisions if he thought his company messed up vs the client.  He certainly helped me a great deal when threads went missing last year.

It is with excitement that Benjamin Ravan, CEO of Fleur de Paris announces his recent acquisition of Rainbow Gallery, effective October 1, 2015. Benjamin’s experience in the field over the last 40 years ensures that the renowned line of specialty yarns will be in good hands moving forward.
Rainbow Gallery will continue to operate as its own entity as Daniel Ravan, Benjamin’s son, will work alongside Sally London and complement her superb customer service and knowledge of the industry and this beloved brand.
We would like to thank John Schatteles for his contribution to the industry and wish him the best of luck and happiness in his retirement.
We can assure you that the quality and excellent customer service that you have become accustomed to will go unchanged. The transition period will be seamless for all our customers and partners.
