We are sad to announce the death of Pat Carson. Pat was a tireless promoter of counted cross stitch and is probably best known for her interpretation of the Precious Moments paintings. Her pattern book "Cross Stitch for Special Occasions" was the first pattern book to sell over one million copies! Lately Pat was the originator of Pat's Needles which were so extremely popular. She also worked tirelessly on her charities to raise money for elementary schools in southeast Asia.

 Time for a Pandemic Update

I have now used 3 cards of splendor - 12 ply of 8 yards of threads which equals 96 splendor.

this was one card of silk
this is what was labeled one card but there was a lot on the left not shown

Two cards

Three Cards
Note that I am leaving the 2nd part of the date off for now
I have an alternate design for the top middlish area
but just have not gotten around to stitching it yet.

Have a great stitching week!

SAL time

Check out the members of the SAL:

AvisClaireGunConstanzeChristinaKathyMargaretCindyHeidiJackieSunnyMeganDeborahReneeCarmelaSharonDaisyAnneAJCathieLindaHelen

I almost forgot.   I did my photos late last night and loaded them in this morning then the rest of the day got  away from me.

Here's  Do Different 3 weeks ago

I was bad and didn't do a good shot of everything.
Today's shot is of everything then each side.

Here goes:

This overall with books trying to keep the left side from curling over.
I worked on the third band of the saying, working on finishing the side
triangles on the left side (not finished though)
I did the side triangles on the lower right and the bottom right triangles.
I blocked off the area which will be stitched in black on
both the left and right sides (look in the middle)
Under the third band of writing I started a small area on the left
It will remind what color is also going in on the right side.

See the blank area in the middle of everything
(more or less)
It looks like a vase to me and I am debating with myself as if it should be
the solid red or black stitching.
Please let me know what you think.

Now for a closer look at the sides.

Left side

Right side.

Don't expect huge amounts of stitching for the next three weeks.
I have lots to do to prepare for the Christmas events in our life.
Shopping is not my thing
unless it involves stitching.

Don't forget the other stitchers at the top of the post.

Good Stitching to one and all!

Where has the time gone?!   The last photo I took of Pandemic was in September.  yikes!

I am a lot further than this.  Another photo after the Thanksgiving holiday.
I'm taking the week-end off to stitch and relax.

It's SAL time again and there is something to show!  It has helped tremendously to switch projects and the needle has been flying..  I don't think I even skipped a day of stitching.  It felt wonderful!

Here is the start point of the section I wanted to do first.

and now.
Do Different is making progress.

The last number (for the year will be left til the end.
I doubt that I can finish it in 2021 but then again
you never know.

Make sure you visit the other stitchers as well.

Sunday, October 17, 2021

It's Sal time and time for good news (I hope).

I have decided that enough was enough for the stained glass window.  It has not been touched in 6 weeks and was starting to effect my urge to stitch in general.  So it is retiring for awhile.

I reread the prupose of the group and went thru my WIPs and studied them and decided what had the stongest pull.

It's called Do Different by Long Dog Samplers.  Here's the cover shot

Here is where I am and then a close up of where I wil start stitching later tonight.
Sorry that I didn't iron them ahead of photos.

you can see where I pull the needle out of the for the photo.

I promise progress for the next post.

I can't believe that it is October all ready and I have said a word for awhile.  I admit to being super busy with genealogy and watching grandkids.  Stitching has been for later at night.

Here is one of the current projects.

This is Canterbury Santa
by Mill Hill
the scroll (upper right) will go in the extended hand
the holly (bottom right) will go on his hat.
Still have lots of beads to go as well as a beard

More to come.

SAL time again

Yes it is that time again.  I can't believe I haen't posted anything since there either.  Partly because of too much to do and never enough time.  I admit to trying to get things done that are out of the house before we get shut down for COVID again.  But enough, you came to see progress pictures and I actually have them.

The whole piece overall

Just the top.
Just a few more stitches to finish before the whole top is done.
I have the threads but I was too tired and bug-eyed to finish
before posting.

Be sure to check out everyone else!

 SAL time.

I admit that this piece is not holding my interest very well.  I am still trying to plug along.  I got more of hte black perle cotton then realized as well I was about to run out of the "purple" perle otton for the top.  I haven't found it so far.  Here's the latest photo.

Check out everyone else please.

I just found out that Marilyn, the founder of Stoney Creek Designs, died early this month.

I remember meeting her when I used to teach out at Rockome Gardens in Arcola, IL.

Here is a link to her obituary.:   Marilyn Vredevelt Obituary (2021) - Grand Rapids, MI - Grand Rapids Press (mlive.com)

Not a word about the company or stitching.  She stitched beautifully.

Another loss for the stitching community.

 "I'm late, so terribly late"

Yesterday I was supposed to post my Sal update and instead I was out out of the house most of the day and ended up in bed really early because I was so tired.   I had not anticipated being away from the house all day or the lack of sleep from the night before.

Here is the update:  Not much done and I have run out of black #5 perle cotton.  TIme to head out to get more thread.

This was the previous post.

And now.
The crosses are in and the background started.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the group

Have a great stitching week!

Wednesday, July 21, 2021

The photo above is for the wrong month but at least you know what I am talking about.
I have not had a chance to post this past Monday's stitching for the end of the July week-end
until now.  The previous post has the before photo and here are the after phoits.

Stitching this past week-end has really helped bring back the stitchy bug.  It has

been a bit beleagured lately.
