This week-end was rainy and cold! I had a meeting Saturday morning then snuck off to a semi-LNS (mostly it's a quilt store, then yarn and lastly needlework - but improving). They recently got in Dinky-dyes silk. I bought a few last week and decided I needed more. As I was looking at the wall of thread, a stitching friend came up behind me. She was there for the same thing - silk threads!
I departed soon after and went home, started afire and stitched and stitched and stitched. It was a pretty good day inside.
Progress shot later this week.
A sampling of my designs as well as personal stitching, and life in general.

In answer to one of the comments.
The current BAP is from Blackbird Designs. I took out the word Halloween and moved the bottom border to the top. I also switched the color of the alphabet - original color was too dark for me. I also used linen I already had, so it's not the gray that was called for. I want to be able to use it all Fall instead of just for Halloween.

Books update
One of the things I elearned at Biltmore was that George Vanderbilt was an avid reader. He kept a journal of the books he had read and it listed approximately 3000 books, or an average of 80 books a year. The guide did not know at what point in his life that George started listing his books. Still an average of 80 books a year is impressive, especially since he didn't just read novels.
Last year I read 80 books and hope to do so again this year but the goal is set at 75. In 2010 I didn't start recording the books until July 1st. So for the second half of the year, I read 50 books. I admit that I usually read novels, rarely read textbooks any more but do read biographies and light histories. I would consider a textbook to be a heavy history.
Simply novels so far this year but the year is far from over.

catch-up
We will start with the newest TUSAL. This is April 2012. THe jar is full. Next month will be a new container. The brown peeking thru is from the next photo - my BAP.
My current BAP
The bird seems to be taking forever! It is supposed to stitched with Gentle Arts Sable. I have three skeins of it - three very different skeins! So I am combining the three of them to create a "middle ground" of color.
One is a dark tan, another more choclate and the third is a dark wood brown. Not the greatest of photos but you get the idea.
I also have a finish for April.
This is a Bent Creek piece - Thankful Quaker. I changed the lower right corner. It looked as if it was a knife and fork so I added another heart. Unfortunately the chart did not match the photo/stitching in a few places, so I used my judgement. Their "leaves" are a bit odd shaped but I stitched them anyhow.
Next up is my WIP - the tapestry cat. It didn't get lots of attention for the past month but it did get some. Mostly the upper corners, photo includes cat tail too.
Lastly. My newest non-stitching buy - my mouse!
Yes, I opted for a wireless mouse. So far, so good. It is a little lighter than the computer but it still goes with it (color-wise). And you can see that my mouse pad goes along with my love of stitching. It doesn't dare wear out since I've not seen anything else like it.
And that's it for today.

home again
Well,we are home now. We departed home to spend Easter with the out-of-state daughter, sil and grandson (which we did) then head out for a two week vacation. After a week, we headed home. My hubby's knee started acting up and not allowing him to walk very well so we decided to head home.
Earlier this year he took a tumble down the basement stairs and landed on his knee. I did manage to get hime to a doctor several hours later and the news went down from there. He really needs to do a follow-up with a specialist but he also hates doctors. Drives me nuts.
Anyhow, I should be back to blogging more often now. I have updated the book list for now.

Here it is April already. Where has the time gone. March was crammed full with various things including my pilot class. I still don't have all the revisions done yet but one student has her piece completed!
We have watched the weather fo from the 80's to the 30's during the last month. And that was just in 24 hours too! Tornados have been plentiful as well as rain. Now I'm hoping that Easter day will be pleasant.
I seem to be far behind in lots of thing and yet barely keepahead of deadlines. Makes me wonder what I have forgotten. I will try to post more in April. It still has a lot on the schedule but the upcoming week-end (Easter) is for relaxing and enjoying family.
Happy Easter !
